When I started quilting I put together this quilt using a 9 patch basic pattern. At the time I was still very new to sewing – let alone quilting! So it turned out pretty rough but I still use this quilt and still love it- my ‘comfort’ quilt. Here are some pics of putting it all together:

Yes, I cut all those individual little squares and sewed them into rows and the rows together! I learned later how to do that by using strips- what a time saver! And they fit together much more evenly and straight too. But maybe, probably, all the extra labor I put into this first quilt is why I like it?
